Every wonder how to make your own laundry detergent??
HERE IS HOW!!!
I have looked at TONS of recipes and figure out which recipe I like the most.......MINE! :)
It doesn't matter if you have a family or not this WILL save you money!
I used to buy ECOS at COSTCO for a total of $17.49. This is VERY VERY ECOfriendly and I appreciate that but how can we have something ECOfriendly and cheap? This allows you to wash 210 loads
Here are the ingredients you need to make your own homemade laundry detergent:
- 3 lb bucket
- Baking soda or Wash Soda
- Borax
- Wisk
- Large Pot
- Fels Naptha
- Fresh Lavender or Lavender oil
- Cedar Wood oil
Ingredients Added Up
Borax $5.45/box
Fels Naptha (Stain remover) Approx $1
Baking Soda (Large Bag from COSTCO)approx $ 18.44
Bucket $0 (got from grocery store. They throw them away)
1 oz Cedar Wood Oil $7.25
Lavender $0 ( picked from someones yard) (You should always ask btw)
TOTAL............................................ Approx $32.14
RECIPE
2.5 Gallons of HOT water
10 cups water
2 Cups Borax
1 Cup Baking Soda
4 tbs fresh Lavender
3/4 Bar Fels Naptha
20 drops of Cedar Wood Oil
- Take 2.5 Gallons of HOT water and put it in the bucket.
- Take 10 Cups of water and put them into a large pot
- Make sure and turn the pot on to a little less than half heat. VERY IMPORTANT! If you make the water too hot it will overflow over the pot.
- Use a cheese grater and grate 3/4 of a bar of Fels Naptha into the pot. Take a whisk and make sure to stir slowly while it melts. Don't stir too fast or it will create bubbles and overflow.
- Slowly add little bits of the baking powder while you stir slowly.
- Once all the baking soda is poured into the pot slowly pour in the borax and continue stirring slowly.
- After all the mixture is melted and looks like a dark yellow color then add it to the bucket. Mix it.
- Add the Cedar Wood Oil drops. Let it sit overnight and then it will turn into a gelatin. When it is a solid consistency then add the fresh lavender.
