Homemade Laundry Detergent

2.5 Gallons of HOT water
10 cups water
2 Cups Borax
1 Cup Baking Soda
4 tbs fresh Lavender
3/4 Bar Fels Naptha
20 drops of Cedar Wood Oil

  1. Take 2.5 Gallons of HOT water and put it in the bucket.
  2. Take 10 Cups of water and put them into a large pot
  3. Make sure and turn the pot on to a little less than half heat. VERY IMPORTANT! If you make the water too hot it will overflow over the pot.
  4. Use a cheese grater and grate 3/4 of a bar of Fels Naptha into the pot. Take a whisk and make sure to stir slowly while it melts. Don't stir too fast or it will create bubbles and overflow.
  5. Slowly add little bits of the baking powder while you stir slowly.
  6. Once all the baking soda is poured into the pot slowly pour in the borax and continue stirring slowly.
  7. After all the mixture is melted and looks like a dark yellow color then add it to the bucket. Mix it.
  8. Add the Cedar Wood Oil drops. Let it sit overnight and then it will turn into a gelatin. When it is a solid consistency then add the fresh lavender.
