2. Take Inventory of What you Have
-When you get ready to read the house make sure that you take a quick inventory of the food that you do have. This seems like a tedious task but it will help you understand what you do have so you don't over purchase.
-You can also think of things that you could possibly make with these products over the next week.
3. Look Through Your Cookbooks and/or Online Recipes
-When
you are done taking inventory look through your cookbooks or different
recipes online and find recipes that would permit you to use the last of
the remaining vegetables, caned foods, or grains. This in turn will
help to get rid of the food that is going to be thrown away anyway and
help to you to create new and yummy dishes.
4. Walking to the door
-As you are getting ready to walk out the door make sure that you grab as many canvas bags as possible. Also, if you reuse your plastic bags that bulk sections have for different things then you will not be wasting plastic bags and/or polluting the planet.
- If you take canvas bags to pretty much any grocery store they will give you $.05 off of your purchase for each bag. If you are lucky and if you have a ton of bags with you, the checker will take $.05 for every bag you have whether you have filled the bags or not!
-Grocery shopping.............$100
-Canvas bags.....................$1
-The look on your face when you save money on groceries..............PRICELESS!
5. Where do I start when I walk into the store?
-Usually when you first enter the grocery store, it doesn't matter which one, they will usually have some of their best deals right up front or signs indicating where and when the deals are happening.
-After you have made it past the front try and make your way through the outside of the store to avoid all the harsh foods that are full of chemicals, bad sugars and other unhealthy things. When you eat foods that are highly processed it makes your body crave them more because they do not fill you up and they do not hold the proper nutrients to that tell your body that it has enough nutrients and that you can stop eating.
-Visit the bulk section! This is so important! If you go to the bulk section you have a wide variety of pastas, dried fruit, nuts, flours, and grains to choose from for usually 1/2 the price of regular pastas in the boxes and bags. I'LL RACE YOU TO THE CHECKOUT!
